In the spring of my junior year, I took Buddhism, Peace, and Justice with Professor Barbara Reed. The course explored several ethical topics relating to Buddhism and thinking about issues using Buddhist concepts. This paper focuses on the environmental crisis we are facing and explores how the human struggle with attachment and desire contributes to many people's inaction to solve this dilemma.
In the spring of my sophomore year, I took Theology in Comparative Perspectives with Professor PJ Johnston. The course helped me develop a basic understanding of Buddhism and Hinduism and challenged us to conceptualize important concepts for each religion. This paper uses comparative theology to describe the historical and cultural factors that influenced how Buddhism and Christianity were perceived once they were introduced to China and Japan.
