During the spring of my junior year, I took Engendering Modern East Asia with Professor Stephanie Montgomery. In the course, we explored gender as a lens to view history in China, Japan, and Korea, exploring how looking at different narratives can change one's perception of history. For my final paper, I chose to write a historiography about the comfort women, focusing on the women from Taiwan, as I wanted find out how their experiences might differ from Korean women who made up the majority of comfort women.
